As a Solihull school, our Local Authority is already one of the lowest funded in the country for Education. Although at the last General Election the government stated that they would not cut school budgets, in real terms they did by increasing National Insurance and Pension costs. The government have also cut the Education Services Grant by 75% and this shortfall is going to have to be met from school budgets, which is likely to be a 5 figure sum.
Here at St Andrew's we have cut the budget as far as possible, but this is becoming unsustainable in both the short and the long term. Below this is an interactive calculator that shows how we will be affected. All you have to do is enter the school's postcode to see the effect on our school budget.
The NUT is pushing the government to increase the funding and are asking that you email your MP and sign the Petition which is on their specially created website. I too would urge you to do this - your child only gets one chance at Primary school and we want to give them the best chance possible!
