Parent and pupil workshop - Sponsor prayer cards.
The pupils in the Year 3 and Year 6 have been preparing to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation, and Holy Communion. As part of this preparation the parishioners at Saint Thomas More, Church are encouraged to become prayer sponsors and pray for the pupils as they get ready to meet Jesus for the first time and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The pupils and their families were invited to attend a workshop in the Parish hall before their commitment Mass on Saturday 6th February. The aim of the workshop was to make a card to give to their sponsors which would provide the sponsor with some information about the pupil whom they were supporting through their prayers.
The theme for the card was 'The Year of Mercy' and their designs were based on the logo for this special year.The children and their parents worked collaboratively to create a simple prayer card for their sponsor. The workshop was well attended and many thanks to the members of the PTA who generously gave their time and provided refreshments for the event. An enjoyable time was had by all, and here are some of the comments parents made after the workshop;
'Nice for the children to have the extra involvement pre-Mass'
'Thought it was a very good session. Children really enjoyed it. Nice to write a message to the sponsor'
'Our daughter is having a wonderful time she looks forward to doing it again'
'It was lovely to share in the preparation of such a special day for my granddaughters'
'Delightful time had by all'
The prayer cards will now be distributed to the members of the parish who will support our pupils and their families on their faith journey by praying for them.
