The Gift Ambassadors started their work in September 2019. Four members of the group had the experience of being a Prayer Ambassador in the previous academic year. The children decided that each class should be represented and organised how to achieve this. They have been committed to supporting faith development across the school in various ways. They have numerous ideas and are prepared to give up their own time after school and at lunchtime to ensure that other children benefit from their faith filled activities. Since the group started more children have come forward to represent their class.
During the Autumn Term Gift Ambassadors made their own set of rosary beads and led a workshop for pupils across the school to make their own rosaries. They prepared and led an assembly on Our Lady of the Rosary and class based collective worship for Nursery, Reception and KS1 on Our Lady. Each week during the month of October they sold rosary beads during breaktimes. They organised the Marian prayer bags for each class so that children and parents could pray together at home. The Year 5 Gift Ambassador prepared a PowerPoint for their RE Inspire Workshop on making Gardens of Eden. Gift Ambassadors made cards for Father John in November to give to the bereaved and then organised a workshop so that other children could also make these cards. Sixteen children attended from Nursery to Year 6. They organised a Dress as a Saint Day for the whole school. The Year 4 Gift Ambassadors prepared a Remembrance Prayer Service for their parents and a PowerPoint for their RE Inspire Workshop on making Jesse Trees. The children planned and led Mass to mark the start of the Year of the Word and organised a Christmas Activity Workshop for themselves and then offered the workshop to the rest of the school. Year 5 Gift Ambassadors led an Advent Prayer Service in their class.
In the Spring Term Gift Ambassadors planned and led the Beginning of Term Mass and a whole school assembly on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. The children prepared and led Prayer Services on ‘God Calling’ focusing on people from the Old Testament as part of our Year of the Word celebrations. They also prepared Bible boxes for each class. Gift Ambassadors monitored Lenten Prayer Areas in KS2.
